Make & Create
Gel Plate Printing w/ Rob Anderson
Learn gel plate printing with Rob Anderson! Beginner friendly.
In this three-hour workshop participants create several monoprints and/or monotypes with a gel plate. Participants are encouraged to take both a planned and spontaneous approach while using a variety of materials and equipment. Texture plates, man-made found objects, or organic objects picked up from the natural world will be used to create texture and shape in the artwork. Geometric man-made object will also be used. Creating and utilizing paper masks and stencils is another method that will be explored. Foam is an inexpensive, easily cut material which can be used to quickly create a block for printing. Participants will create a block that may be used by itself or in combination with other printing methods. Both acrylic paint and ink are used on a variety of papers.
The beauty of working with this approach is that it is non-threatening to people who might not see themselves as artists. They learn that there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ way with the process. It is playful and creative with instant results.
