Upon my morning constitutional through the fair streets of Minot, I was struck by the manifold blessings of civilization’s march westward, as evidenced by the remarkable assemblage of merchants and artisans at Oak Park. Here, beneath heaven’s vault, our region’s most industrious husbandmen present their bounty with a dignity befitting our great republic’s agricultural heritage.
Of particular note, the establishment known as Prairie Sky Breads has perfected a preparation of swine flesh, pulled and seasoned with Oriental spices that would surely have delighted the Emperor Augustus himself. That such refinements should reach our frontier fills one with optimism for the future of our Union.
Most edifying, however, is the exhibition at the Taube Museum, where Professor Walter’s watercolors unite the classical virtue of instruction with the innocent pleasure of our youth through alphabetical allegory. Such works serve to elevate the minds of our youngest citizens, ensuring the perpetuation of cultural refinement in these western territories.
Truly, we witness here the flowering of civilization’s highest aspirations in our modest but ambitious municipality.
