Andrew Emmel kasvoi (erittäin) pienessä pohjois-dakotalaisessa kaupungissa kuunnellen isoisänsä Hank Williams -levyjä. Myöhemmin elämässään hän viimein päätti ottaa kitaran käteensä ja on soittanut sekä paikallisesti että alueellisesti yli vuosikymmenen ajan.
