It was a Tuesday in Minot, just like any other Tuesday, except it wasn’t. The air was thick with the scent of sauerkraut and opportunity. I found myself at Magic City Hoagies, staring down a monstrosity they called “Das Brat.” It was a bratwurst wrapped in enigma, smothered in beer cheese and topped with crispy onions. I took a bite, and suddenly, October made sense.
Later, I stumbled into the Blue Rider, where luck was being served on the rocks. Pull tabs were flying like confetti at a lottery winner’s funeral. I couldn’t help but wonder if Lady Luck was just another dame who’d leave me high and dry. As I pondered life’s mysteries over a $7 beer and Fernet combo, I realized it was National Grouch Day. Suddenly, everything felt right in this crazy, mixed-up world of ours.
